How to move an instance between different Oktawave accounts?
Posted by Piotr Malendo on 04.11.2013 14:24

The first step is to draw attention to the fact that the customer can change all specified account data. The name of the account can be changed via the Customer Service Department, just write an e-mail to support[at]oktawave[dot]com, or submit such a request using the ticketing system (in the admin panel, go to the tab Account | Orders).

If the change of account name is not enough, then you can move servers by following these steps:

  1. In the admin panel make instance export to the OCS service (turn off the machine, and then enter its option tab, then click the Export button in the upper left corner of the screen).
  2. In the next step download the server image made, for example on the local computer (after entry into the tab Services | OCS simply select the image file and click Download).
  3. When you log in to your new account, upload the image server to OCS services (in the section Services | OCS container, click Add, give it a name and next click Add | Add a file and choose the location of the image).
  4. The last step is to import the machine on the target account (tab Services | Import / Export | Import and from the list choose previously loaded image instance).

Once the above steps OCI instance will appeare in the list of services, as a new server.

NOTE! Because of the maximum size of a single object that can be stored in the OCS (5GB), a virtual machine disk file is divided into segments (

If there is more than one file, then files that were downloaded, are the individual segments.

In the instance backup directory in addition to the OVF file, user will find object with vmdk extension, which in Cyberduck probably has zero MB in size, but this is the object that holds together the various segments of the disk and allows you to download the whole image.
